The Whole Body Approach to Menstrual Pain and Low Thyroid
Marcia is a talented medical herbalist who takes an integrative approach to health care. She uses her extensive knowledge of research in order to provide creative approaches to achieving optimal health. I started seeing Marcia for problems with my period - heaviness and unbearable pain. Marcia worked closely with me and other medical practitioners in order to get to the root of the problem. Along the way, we also worked on issues with my digestive system and thyroid, which, as I learned, can contribute to almost any health issue. After about 6 months under Marcia's care, I was feeling better than I had felt in years. However, I would say an even bigger impact for me was that Marcia helped me learn how to care for myself by vigilantly listening to the messages my body sends when I eat certain foods, feel any pain, or take certain herbs or medications. Opening up this communication channel has been a life-changer for me. - TW
Power of Poulticing
'I went down on the ice to the sound of three pops. That was a rare Maisonneuve Fracture richocheting through my twisted ankle and leg. Surgery to implant brackets and pins to draw the ankle bones back together was followed by three months in a hard cast and on crutches. Then it was into an air boot with instructions that the pain on walking would soon subside. It didn't. But it sure did as soon as I started applying warm comfrey poultices once a day. The effects were so immediate it was like some miracle cure. I could hardly believe it was true.
A couple of months on, I had to go under the knife again, to remove the same metalware because one of the pins had gone in slightly askew. Once again, the poultices worked as swiftly as before. It is true.
